The puppy potty‑training log.

Log potty trips, meals, and naps in two taps — or by voice, transcribed right on your device. pupdate learns your puppy's rhythm and reminds you when the next trip is likely due, tracks your training progress, and celebrates milestones along the way.

Share the log with your household so everyone stays in sync, and export it anytime to show your vet. No accounts, no ads, no tracking — your data lives on your device and your own iCloud, where we can't see it.

Why pupdate exists

A few months ago, my partner and I adopted Lily — a 12-week-old Italian Greyhound. Everyone warned us about potty training a puppy. They were right.

We kept a shared Google Doc of every potty trip, meal, and nap: timestamps, guesses, bleary 3am notes. It worked, but keeping it up was exhausting — and the notes never told us the one thing we actually wanted to know: when does she next need to go out?

Lily is fully potty trained now. The logging shouldn't have been the hard part, so I built the app we wish we'd had: two taps to log, one shared record for the whole household, and your puppy's rhythm made visible.

pupdate is free — if it spares one other household the 3am spreadsheet, it was worth building.

Common questions

What is pupdate?

pupdate is a puppy potty-training tracker for iPhone. You log potty trips, meals, and naps in a couple of taps, see your housetraining progress over time, and get a heads-up when the next trip is likely due.

How do I log a potty trip?

Tap pee, poop, meal, or nap, confirm the details, and hit Done — or say it out loud and pupdate transcribes it on your device. You can add where it happened (outside, pad, or elsewhere) without it ever being marked “wrong.”

Does pupdate tell me when my puppy needs to go out?

It learns your puppy’s rhythm from what you log and reminds you when the next trip is likely due. It’s an estimate that gets sharper the more you log — not a guarantee.

Is my data private? Where is it stored?

Your data lives on your device and syncs only through your own iCloud — never to us. No accounts, no ads, no tracking. We can’t see your data.

Can my partner or family log too?

Yes. You can share your pup with a partner, family, or sitter so everyone logs to the same timeline — synced privately through your own iCloud.

Do I need an account? Does it work offline?

No account, no sign-up. pupdate works on your device, so you can log a trip whether or not you’re online.

Can I log by voice?

Yes — say it the way you’d say it out loud (“7am pee outside”) and pupdate files it. Voice is transcribed right on your device; it never leaves your phone.

What else can I track besides potty trips?

Meals, naps, and free-text notes — so the whole day is in one place. pupdate turns it into progress you can see: streaks, milestones, and how long your pup is going between trips.

Can I export my logs?

Yes — export your full log as a PDF or CSV anytime, including to share with your vet.

How much does pupdate cost?

pupdate is free.
